The Catskill Community Players are holding auditions for all interested in acting to fill the roles in The Real Inspector Hound, a one-act comedy by Tom Stoppard. This is a hilarious award-winning comedy that calls for 3 women and 5 men, and a radio voice.

This one-act play, actually a play within a play, involves two theatre critics reviewing a play who get caught up in a murder-mystery with the on-stage actors. A dead body is found at Muldoon Manor in Essex, the radio announces a madman is on the loose, and soon Inspector Hound shows up at the scene of the crime. But is he the real Inspector Hound?

Diana Friedell, a veteran director and actor from Oneonta will direct and produce the show, which will be shown at the Wieting Theatre in Worcester, preceded by a special theatre dinner at the Worcester Inn across the street, on November 11th, 12th and a matinee showing on Nov. 13th .

The roles called for are Moon and Birdboot, the two theater critics (middle aged or so), Mrs. Drudge (the Maid), Simon (the mysterious handsome visitor who both Cynthia and Felicity fall for), Lady Cynthia Muldoon, (the very proper lady of the Manor) Felicity (the young friend of Lady Cynthia, Inspector Hound (Parody of a Scotland Yard Inspector), and Major Magnus Muldoon (the wheel-chair ridden elder relative, obviously disguised).

Selections of the script can be read at http://books.google.com/ or in its entirety by searching on-line. Auditions are open to anyone interested in acting, experienced or not.

For further information please call or e-mail Diana Friedell (433-2089; dfriedell@stny.rr.com) and for more info about Catskill Community Players, a 40-year old theater company, please go to http://blog.catskillplayers.org/, or find us on facebook.

Anne of Green Gables

The Catskill Community Players are proud to present Anne of Green Gables, a play by Alice Chadwicke adapted from the novel by Lucy Maud Montgomery.

The stern Marilla (played by Rebecca Newman) and her warm-hearted brother Matthew (Joe Mungavin) hoped to adopt a boy to work on their farm. But the orphanage sends young, befreckled Anne (played by Rachel Adams & on Sundays by Alyssa Christman) by mistake, and their lives will never be the same. Her warmth and wit affect everyone around her — even, eventually, the cold Marilla! We follow Anne through her rebellious years, her transformation into a young woman, and her romantic pairing with Gilbert. (Joshua Turan).

The play is directed by Dave Turan, with original music written and performed by Lissa Sidoli. This is a family show, appropriate for all ages, including children who are able to sit through a long show.

There is also a raffle for an “Anne of Green Gables” Collector’s Porcelain Doll.  Raffle tickets are available at all performances, or by calling 326-7908, and the winner will be drawn at the last performance — no need to be present to win.

The play will run for two weekends and be presented in two different Theaters.

Auditions — Anne of Green Gables

The Catskill Community Players are seeking actors & actresses of all ages for their spring production of “Anne of Green Gables”, an adaptation of the classic L.M Montgomery novel by Alice Chadwicke. There are four potential audition times to choose from: Auditions will be held at the Worcester Inn, Main St. in Worcester on Wednesday, March 16th at 6:30 p.m., and Sunday March 20th at 3:00 p.m. Auditions will also be held at 76 MAIN!, in Stamford, NY on Saturday, March 19th at 2:00 pm and Sunday, March 20th at 12 Noon.
The show’s director, David Turan, is looking for 4 males, and 10 females, from age 12 to Adults and Seniors, but Dave notes that many teenage actors are needed. The plot revolves around Green Gables, which is the home of lovable Matthew Cuthbert and his stern sister, Marilla. They agree to adopt a boy to help with the farm work. But they are dismayed when Anne Shirley, a girl in her teens, is sent by the orphanage by mistake! Anne touches Matthew’s heart with her vivid imagination and her charitable viewpoint, but it takes time to reach the tender heart beneath Marilla’s hard exterior. Then there is young Josie Pye, a boy named Moody Spurgeon and Matthew, Anne’s kindred spirit.
The play will be presented on June 10th, 11th, and 12th as a Dinner plus Theatre at the Worcester Inn and the Wieting Theatre in Worcester. A second weekend of performances will take place on June 17th, 18th and 19th at the Carriage House at 76 MAIN!, Stamford, NY.
Hope to see you there!

Auditions for Catskill Players Fall Comedy- 9-19!!

Hi Everyone-
I am pleased to announce I will be directing the fall show for Catskill Community Players!!
Passengers by Sam Bobrick, writer from “Get Smart”, Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, and many other plays after that.
It is a fabulous well-reviewed comedy of 8 one-act kinds of scenes, so it is very flexible with the casting and rehearsing since you can either double cast a couple of them, or not.  It will be at the Wieting Theatre in Worcester again, a combination dinner theatre with the Worcester Inn.
I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so hard, while just reading the script, so it should be lots of fun.
We’ll probably rehearse at the Wieting in Worcester or other places, for our convenience, since each play is a small cast.  Here is the scoop. . .
Hope to see you there!
Feel free to call or e-mail if you have questions- 433-2089; dfriedell@stny.rr.com
